Community Day

Community Day

Have you ever experienced a day filled with community service, laughter, fun, and reconnection? That's exactly what happened at Kahanu, thanks to the amazing team at 808 Cleanups. With 47 dedicated individuals in attendance, we were able to remove 6lbs of trash, plant 40 sq ft of ʻākulikuli, and remove 1300 sq ft of invasive species. It was a day filled with hard work and a sense of accomplishment.

Exceeding Expectations

Our original goal was to reach 100 hours of community service, but thanks to the dedication of everyone involved, we surpassed that goal and hit 114 collective hours. It's incredible what can be achieved when a group of like-minded individuals come together for a common cause.

Supporting Local Farmers and Businesses

Not only did we make a positive impact on the environment, but we also supported local farmers by purchasing $140 worth of kalo. Additionally, we made sure to support a locally owned restaurant, providing delicious food for all in attendance. It's important to give back to the community in more ways than one.

Sharing Knowledge and Growing Together

One of the highlights of the day was having the opportunity to learn from Honi Hala about lauhala weaving. Her expertise and passion for the craft were truly inspiring. By supporting her, we are helping her continue to grow and share her knowledge with others. It's all about coming together to learn and grow as a community.
